Reading

I love to have children read when they are working on articulation.  After they have mastered (80% acc. or better) their target sound at the sentence level I like to have them bring a book that they like and at their reading level and have them read aloud.  This takes their focus off of their target sound and allows them to practice their sound in a more natural setting (children frequently have to read aloud in class).  Some children like to switch off reading a pg.  This is fine with me because I am able to emphasize their target sound when I read.
I also like to have them read for fluency therapy.  For fluency, they are able to follow the words with their finger and this helps to keep them from "getting stuck" and having "bumps".  I also like to have the children working on fluency tap their hand as they read to keep a steady pace.
