Back when I was doing my first internship for graduate school, one of my supervisors had this game. It is a really fun way to work on vocabulary and articulation. What's in Ned's Head Game consists of a large cloth head with openings for the nose and ears, cards with pictures, and "silly objects". We only used the head.
For increasing vocabulary we would "feed" Ned objects (play food, animals, different colored blocks, etc). As we fed Ned the child and SLP would label the objects. Conversely, the objects could all be in Ned's head and we would label them as we removed them from his head.
For articulation the child would say their words at whatever level they were targeting (word level, phrase level, sentence level, etc) and then they would get to "feed" the articulation card to Ned. Or, they could remove cards that I had previously put into his head and use the words at their target level.
The kids think it is really silly which keeps them entertained and engaged in therapy.
