The /r/ sound is altered by what vowel it occurs next to and frequently children (or adults) will only make errors on some of the /r/ sounds. A few years ago I worked with a young man whose only errors were on the "or" sound. I compiled this list of words for him to practice. If you are working with a 3rd or 4th grader I would not use some of the words that they don't know the meaning of like "corridor" and "guarantor". Just like the other word lists I've provided, I would start at the word level and as they master the sounds at word level (80% acc or better) I would advance them to phrase level, sentence level, and finally conversation.
