/g/ and /k/ tips

A friend of mine recently asked me for some tips on eliciting a "back sound".  Here is a little handout that I created a few years ago that I revamped to give to her.

/k/ and /g/ tips
Remind him/her that it is a "back" sound.  "It's in the back."
Put peanut butter or pudding on the back of his/her bottom teeth.  Tell him/her to keep his tongue tip on the peanut butter or pudding while he says "t".

Remind him/her to keep their mouth open to avoid making the "t" sound.   "Don't let your tongue touch your top teeth."

Hold the tip of his/her tongue down with a tongue depressor or spoon while he/she makes the sound.

Have him/her hold a cheerio on the back of his/her bottom teeth with his/her tongue tip while he/she says the sound.

Have him/her think about what the back of his/her tongue is doing (it should go up and down) and what the front of the tongue is doing (it should stay down).

Lie down while saying the sound-tongue will "fall" into place with gravity.
